Entry is open to any fencer aged 13 or over on 1 January 2021
‘Teams of Two’ Format: Fencers enter as individuals. Entries are seeded according
to experience and known ability (as they would be for an individual competition).
Teams are drawn at random on the day: one fencer from the upper half of the seeding,
and one from the lower half. The draw for team-mates is often a point of interest in
itself! Team matches are fenced as a relay, with the teams completing a poule unique.
Rather than a deadly serious competition, this is intended to be an environment that
encourages relative beginners (for whom this may be their first fencing outside their
Club) with direct support and advice. It is also useful practice for the experienced
fencer to observe and advise their team-mate, and a challenge to lead by example.
Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top two teams in each weapon
Entries will be capped at 18 fencers (9 teams) in each weapon
If entry numbers are low, an initial individual poule unique may be used for seeding
Current membership of British Fencing at Compete or Recreational level is required
Fencers must use at least 800N plastrons and 350N jackets and breeches
